These terms are written for practical product clarity and are not a substitute for individualized legal advice.

Using Base Case means agreeing to these terms

If you use the public site or the authenticated workspace, these terms apply.

By accessing or using Base Case, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Base Case may update the product, policies, and features over time, and continued use after a material update means you accept the updated terms.

You are responsible for using Base Case lawfully and only if you are able to enter into a binding agreement where you live. If you are using Base Case on behalf of an organization, you are responsible for making sure you have authority to do that.

Accounts, access, and acceptable use

  • Provide accurate account information and keep sign-in credentials secure.
  • Do not impersonate another person or access another account without permission.
  • Do not interfere with the service, bypass access restrictions, or probe for vulnerabilities in a way that risks other users or infrastructure.
  • Do not use Base Case to upload, transmit, or execute unlawful, infringing, malicious, or abusive material.
  • Do not use AI or code-execution features to attempt credential theft, malware delivery, denial-of-service activity, or unauthorized access to third-party systems.
  • Do not scrape or automate the service in a way that degrades reliability or violates these terms.

User content stays yours, but Base Case needs a limited operating license

You keep ownership of the code, prompts, notes, and other content you submit to Base Case. By using the service, you give Base Case a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to host, store, process, transmit, and display that content only as needed to operate and improve the service features you choose to use.

You are responsible for the content you submit and for making sure you have the right to submit it. Do not upload secrets, personal data about other people, or proprietary material unless you are comfortable with that content being processed by the service providers used to operate the feature you selected.

AI outputs and code execution come with practical limits

Casey and related AI features can be useful, but they can also be incomplete, incorrect, or unsuitable for your situation. You remain responsible for reviewing, testing, and deciding whether to rely on any generated output.

Code execution is provided to support interview practice. It may fail, rate-limit, time out, or produce inaccurate results because of user code, sandbox behavior, or provider issues. Do not use Base Case or its execution environment for safety-critical, production, or compliance-sensitive workloads.

Base Case intellectual property and open materials

Unless a separate license says otherwise, Base Case software, design, branding, interface copy, and the overall service experience are owned by Base Case and Xavier Agostino. These terms do not transfer ownership of those materials to users.

Some curriculum materials or tooling may be published separately under their own repository licenses or open-source terms. Those separate licenses control the materials they are attached to, and they do not automatically apply to the rest of the Base Case service.

Availability, disclaimers, and limits of liability

Base Case may change, pause, restrict, or remove features at any time, including for maintenance, security, product direction, abuse prevention, or provider limitations. The service is offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Base Case disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Base Case will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to the service.

Suspension, termination, and contact

Base Case may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create security or abuse risks, or expose the service or other users to harm. You may stop using Base Case at any time, and account-management actions may also be available through the account settings and provider flows connected to the service.
